Day Seventeen

Day 17 - A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently.

Obviously, getting accepted to and getting ready to go to BYU has made a pretty big impact. So has also all the senior stuff that I have to/ get to do and getting ready to graduate.
This roughly, is me at the present.

Day Sixteen

Day 16 - A picture of someone who inspires you.

Yes, I do realize that Atticus Finch in not a real person, but that doesn't stop him from being crazy awesome. He is in fact so crazy awesome that the Alabama State Bar erected a monument in his honor! Seriously, Atticus is probably one of the greatest fictional characters ever and if any of you haven't read To Kill a Mockingbird you need to, like today.

Day Fifteen

Day 15 - A picture of something you want to do before you die.

Before I die, I want to be able to help someone and encourage him to do his best, become all that he can be and follow his dreams. I want him to be able to count on me to be there for him whenever he is feeling down or like he can't do it. Before I die, I want to be someone's inspiration.

Day fourteen

The play has caused me to be so far behind!! Let's see if I can't catch up today.

Day 14 - A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without.

Yes, I realize that this is a lot more than one person, but in case you haven't noticed, I've kind of been breaking the rules on this thing like crazy. The people that I can't imagine my life without is my family, seriously, they're awesome. This picture is a few of my cousins and I on Thanksgiving last year and yes, I do mean a few.  Every Thanksgiving, those of us that live nearby get together, which I guess if actually a pretty normal thing to do but hey, I still really like it. While I don't have as big a family as some of the people I know,  I'd still consider if somewhat large and I always have fun when some of us get together and I'm grateful for the relationships that we have.

Day Thirteen

Day 13 - A picture of your favorite band or artist.

I don't really have a favorite band or artist. My tastes in music actually change a lot depending on what I feel like. Some bands/artists also have like one or two good songs and the rest of them are kind of lame. I also really like soundtracks, both in movies, like background songs, and like in musicals. I guess if I had to narrow it down. Here are two bands I like.

Day Twelve

Day 12 - A picture of something you love.

literature
I love good literature. I particularly enjoy fiction but I've read a good deal of interesting non-fiction too. I even like informational text, assuming that it's a subject that I'm interested in. Actually, that's something else that I really enjoy. I love reading just plain old stories but I also love when I'm reading about a subject that I find interesting, usually for school, and I can feel myself learning about it and understanding the concepts. After a few weeks I can look back and see all the things I've learned about the subject and how much I know now. Like when you finish reading a textbook and you just look at it an think to yourself, "I read all 500 pages of this book and actually know about this subject now!" When you can really see your growth and comprehension in a subject, I love that too.

Day Eleven

Day 11 - A picture of something you hate.

I hate cooked fruit which means that I don't like: most pies, cobblers, baked anything with fruit (apples, pears etc.), apple sauce, apple cider, and anything else with fruit cooked into it. The funny thing is, I love fruit, just not when you cook it.

Day Ten

Day 10 - A picture of the person you do the most messed up things with.

As I mentioned earlier, I've been a part of drama club since my Sophomore year and let me tell you, some weird stuff happens there. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, I mean it is a large gathering of actors, but those crazy kids always seem to be able to come up with something knew.

Day Nine

Day 09 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

I guess that it's sort of cliche to say that the person who has gotten me through the most is Jesus, but it's totally true. I guess that I wouldn't really consider myself super crazy religious but I do go to church almost every day and I do it because I want to, not because I have to. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and is watching over me and that He will be there for me whenever I need help. I'm very grateful for that knowledge and the knowledge that His son was willing to go through the atonement for me. So that even though it won't always be easy, I will always be able to get up and try again and I will always be loved unconditionally and forgiven for my mistakes . Having the companionship of the Holy Ghost, the power of the Priesthood, and all the knowledge and blessings associated with the restored gospel have gotten me through more than anything else in my life than I can possibly think of.

Day Eight

Day 08 - A picture that makes you laugh.

This was taken a few years ago, I think around the time I was in 6th grade. My sibblings and I decided to pile up a bunch of blankets and pillows onto the floor, roll off the top bunk bed onto them, and take pictures of us in mid air. It was pretty awesome.

Riley and I made this in December I think. How it exactly came to be is kind of a mystery. He just opened up paint on the computer and said "I'll draw something and then you draw something" and we ended up with this. I think it's awesome though, I love it. The guy in the hat is supposed to be Scott.

Day Seven

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item.

My most treasured items are those that document personal history. Particularly my own personal history or the history of others that I care about. Whenever I have to answer that question "What you you save in a fire" it's this stuff. One of the reasons that I'm so eager to protect it (assuming of course that that the people are safe) is that a lot of it can't be replaced. Things like journals and photos, if those are destroyed they are gone forever. The main reason I treasure these items though is because they document history about myself and the people that I care about.  They show me who they were, how they've changed, and where they're going.  Even if it's just my own history, I can still reflect and learn from it, and it helps me to remember things that I might have otherwise forgotten.

In this picture are just a few of the things that document my own personal history: journals, photo albums, newspaper articles, yearbooks, and certificates and awards.

Day Six

Day 06 - A picture of a person you’d love to trade places with for a day.

I don't know why, but for some reason when I was trying to think of someone that I would want to trade places with for a day the first person who I thought of was Jimmer Fredette. Maybe it's just because I keep hearing about him, maybe it's because I'm just excited to go to BYU, or maybe it's because even though he's kind of famous, which would be awesome for a day, he isn't like super famous to the point that you are constantly being stalked by crazy fans and paparazzi. Whatever the reason though, that's who I pick. I think I'd pretty much just play basketball all day. It would be fun to be super awesome at it and then when I did something cool, whoever was watching us would be all like "ohhh, you just got Jimmered!" and I could think "oh yeah, my name is now a word associated with being more awesome than you."  At least, for one day. The next day I would be back to my normal self and I'd be all humbled again  the second I tried to play basketball.

Also, being him would be pretty cool.

You know, they tried to name a street after Chuck Norris in Washington DC, but they ended up having to change the name because no one can cross Chuck Norris and live.

Day Five

Day 05 - A picture of your favorite memory.

Wow, coming up with one specific favorite memory? I don't know if that is even possible. Looking back on my memories, I have a lot that I have really enjoyed and a lot that I would call my favorites. One experience that I especially enjoyed though was my sophomore year of high school, particularly the latter part of it.

Ok, prepare yourself. There is way more than one picture here but you're just going to have to deal with it.

Sophomore year started the exoduses to the local park. If the weather was nice during school, we would agree to get together for awhile after school was over. Occasionally, on weekends, when it would get dark we would walk to a friend's house who lived near by and spend some time there. I remember one particular time when it was getting dark and we walked there singing show tunes the entire way.

The drama club, which I joined my sophomore year, took a trip to New York over spring break. Here are my friends Scott, Natalie, Hillary and I at Ellis Island.

We always at lunch at the same table that year, right next to the "Pretzel Lady" as she was known to us. Sometimes when we were particularly bored, we would make up adventures from her past. While she was always cool, she got incredibly cooler when at the end of the year she signed our yearbooks "God Bless, Pretzel Lady"! She had been listening to us! Not only that, but she had embraced the the name of Pretzel Lady. To this day I have no idea what her real name is. I haven't seen her since the end of sophmore year and the pretzel shop closed down soon after that. I'll always remember how awesome she was though.

Mr. Wold, my sophomore Honors English teacher and one of my favorites. He always went along with whatever crazy shinanagins we came up with, including when we decided through a somewhat complex process that he was a wizard and that the people he ate lunch with were his associates who he governed over. This is him as a wizard. The only hyjinks of ours that he would not tolerate was our attempted interruption of his lunch with his associates. Looking back I can't say I blame him. We were probably kind of annoying and it was the only time he got to interact with people that were over the age of 18. Every once and a while we'll stop by and talk to him and as long as it isn't during his associate meetings he's always glad to see us.

Ms. Casky, the PACE teacher. Another person who we would always lovingly pester but unlike Mr. Wold, it was usually only during lunch. Ms. Caskey was great, but I'm not really sure how she ever really felt about us. We always loved to introduce her to new people and for a long time Scott and Hillary were trying to get her to bless their "marriage", which she never did. One of these attempts even involved Scott pretending to sneeze so that she would say "bless you". Unfortunately it never worked. She also had like 10 year old sugar cubes in her classroom that Natalie liked to eat, much to Ms. Caskey's dismay.

This is at Oscar Night, the award ceremony for the high school drama club. Here I officially became a member of drama council and I don't know, I guess it just gets to represent the fun I had and all the awesome new people I met during the spring musical, "The Wedding Singer".

Technically this occurred over the summer but it was right after my sophomore year. Actually, it was the 4th of July. Here I've just "married" my friend James and his bass Janet. I don't actually remember why we decided to marry them but we were joking about it and decided to make it happen. Have you realized yet that   this was a wacky year for me?

Yeah, so, that was way more than one memory but like I said at the start of this post, you can't choose one memory out of your entire life and make it your favorite! At least I can't. So, here is a little taste of my sophomore year, one of my favorite years so far.

Day Four

Day 04 - A picture of your night.

Unfortunately, I spent most of my weeknights studying or doing some other kind of homework. Typically in front of my fireplace, but also possibly in my room or on the computer, depending on how late it is and what I have to do.
My weekends vary per week but if I'm not at home relaxing I'm typically at a friend's house having wacky adventures and occasionally I even venture to a dance or some other type of crazy social event.

This is the study zone. Yes, I did take this picture during the day.

This is where the wacky adventures typically occur and yes,
occasionally fake guns are involved.

Day Three

Day 03 - A picture of the cast from your favorite show.

This was a little bit of a difficult choice since most of the shows I watch I like about the same. I guess my favorite though is Buffy The Vampire Slayer. I've been told that if I watched Firefly that would become my new favorite show, and I've heard the same thing about Supernatural. From what little I've seen of these shows I'd believe it but I haven't seen them enough to really like them yet, so I'll just stick with Buffy. A few runners ups were: Pushing Daisies, Community, Glee, Fullmetal Alchemist (both brotherhood and the original), The Office, and Psych.

Look, It's Hughes!!
